Christmas in Moldova 2014
Dec 27- Jan 3 JMI’s annual “Christmas in Moldova” mission trip has become one of our most sacred traditions over the years. On the one hand, that is a surprising development. People generally think of Christmas as family time, a needed break from work and, to whatever extent possible, what …
Build a School Fund Update
Santa Isabel School Addition In late May, a team (composed of folks from Nashville, North Carolina, New York City, and even the UK) partnered with JMA to spend a week on the Discovery, serving in several different villages along the Amazon. The focus of the week of ministry was construction, but a …
A Birthday in the Jungle
There wasn’t a single ripple on the water when Jordan climbed out of his hammock and walked to the river bank that warm May morning. The sun was beginning to rise and soon it would burn the fog off the waters surface and he’d be able to see the Discovery, …

Inconvenience and hardship; an austere setting; an annunciation by angels; a long journey in search of the child, punctuated by the giving …
More Jungle Wisdom…The Tree Killer and the Lord of the Jungle
On one of our last Brazilian jungle walks, (a staple excursion of every mission trip we take there), our guide introduced us to Apui, “the tree killer.” And that’s exactly what Apui does: kill trees. Apui isn’t a disease, an insect, an animal or a crazed Amazonian lumberjack. It’s a …

Making a Difference a World Away
Every summer my church sends a team of volunteers to minister to orphans in Moldova. And every summer we take one Sunday morning to hear from those volunteers about their trip. My first visit to Rolling Hills coincided with one of those Moldova reports, and that was all I needed to know that this was the church for me.
