Over the last two weeks almost 3 million people have fled Ukraine seeking safety and shelter in their neighboring countries. More than 350,000 have escaped to Moldova, many have traveled on to other countries, but there are an estimated 150,000 who have remained in Moldova. So many of the refugees are women and children who have had to leave their husbands, brothers and fathers behind.
Ten days ago JMI’s Chris Hardy and Rachel Trammell set off too Moldova to join our team on the ground. During this time they have been supporting our 40 Moldovan staff and meeting with churches and other Christian Humanitarian organizations who are all coming together to make a difference. Our team, together with our amazing Transitional Living teenagers, have been assembling hundreds upon hundreds of food and hygiene bags, and distributing these supplies along with beds, mattresses, blankets and heaters to churches and refugee camps.
