Did you know that The Amazon receives some of the most frequent flooding in the world?
The people of Manaus, Brazil are gearing up for what may be the largest flood ever recorded in their region. As the waters overtake their homes, churches and businesses, people are preparing for the growing water levels that will bring inevitable damage. They will also try to get ready to fend off the river wildlife that will be swept into their homes by the rising waters. Still, these precious families and individuals hold onto faith knowing that this, too, will pass.
As of today, JMI’s staff in the Amazon have already provided assistance to over 92 communities that will help them fight the hunger and illness that will follow this period of flooding. Additionally, 1,600+ families have been provided with basic hygiene and cleaning items as well as medications.
We ask you to join us in praying for the people of the Amazon as they face this season of flooding in the midst of their continuous battle with COVID-19. We trust that the Lord will continue to deliver through our staff and volunteers in the Amazonas region of Brazil.
