Adventures in Cahul, Moldova

“Missions are like spiritual adventures. You are completely dependent on the Lord, and it is a little taste of how He calls us to live every day.” – Jeff Simmons

JMI Mission Trip to Cahul, Moldova

I’m writing this from the plane as I return home from our first Rolling Hills and JMI mission trip to Cahul, Moldova. Every summer, I go with a team from our church to Moldova as we aid orphan and vulnerable children with Justice & Mercy International. Each trip makes a huge impact on me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Each trip leaves me conflicted—I can hardly bear the truth of our broken world and all its darkness, yet I leave more challenged to make a difference by the grace of God. After all, Jesus commanded His followers in Matthew 28:18-20, “Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey My commands and I am with you always to the very end of the age.” This is His challenge and one that has captured my heart. And, He promises to “be with us always to the very end of the age.” He gives us power.

60% of Girls Trafficked are from Moldova

Something I love about mission trips to Moldova is you get to see life-change up close. Moldova is the poorest and smallest country in the former Soviet Union. Yet, the statistic that always gets me the most is that 60% of girls trafficked into prostitution are from this country of only 4 million. 60%! Having three girls of my own, this is very personal to me, and I may not be able to change everything, but I can do something. We can all do something! When we go to Moldova, we make a difference. When we sponsor a child through JMI, we change a life. When we pray for the people of Moldova and the missionaries that make the trips, we see God move.
