Jeremy Stephen Shedd had his in-person reunion with his Lord and Savior on December 18th, 2022, at the age of 35. He is now in heaven with both sets of his grandparents who preceded Jeremy’s passing. He died of heart failure in his apartment in New York City.
While our heartfelt preference would be to have had Jeremy with us for many more years, God took him Home based on His timing and not ours. He is now safe in the arms of Jesus. Jeremy, with his artistic talent and flair, touched the lives of others with love, grace, creativity, and kindness. He loved his Persian cat – Gossamer – who now warms the hearts of Jeremy’s parents.
Jeremy was born on September 20th, 1987, to David and Lisa Shedd in San Jose, Costa Rica. He accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior at the age of five and made his public profession of faith by being baptized at the age of 11 at his Reston Bible Church. Following his graduation in 2005 from Ad Fontes Academy in Virginia, he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from George Mason University. Jeremy went on to earn his master’s degree in Visual and Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. With his art degrees in hand, Jeremy moved to Brooklyn and began his New York City art career at the Durst Organization. Prior to Jeremy’s death, he was excited to help design the Ethan Cohen Gallery in Manhattan.
Jeremy’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of life exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentleness, winsome smile, and humor – he was a trained ventriloquist after all – warmed the hearts of many. He loved gourmet cooking alongside his mom, most recently helping make our Thanksgiving one of the most memorable events in our life. Over the last year, Jeremy had picked up tennis, and to balance that off from being a master Scrabble player, he gave his dad tough competition on the court and in writing 7-letter words.
Jeremy is survived by his loving parents, David and Lisa Shedd of Hollywood, Florida, and his older brother David James Shedd of Kaltenbrunn, Germany.
