Our Hearts Are Full, As We Celebrate With Gratitude!
The annual Justice & Mercy International Gala is always a special night as we come together to celebrate all that God is doing through the work of JMI. But this year’s event, An Evening with JMI, was a night we’ll never forget!
2021 was a year like no other for our teams in the Amazon and Moldova. It came with incredible tragedy and loss, as we walked through a season of great hardship. But through it all God was with us. In the midst of the tears, He brought comfort. In the midst of the burdens, He brought peace. In the midst of the unknown, He brought wisdom, as He guided us through the valleys. God has not only sustained the work of JMI throughout this season, but He has grown it, enabling us to reach even more vulnerable people with His love and provision.
The evening was hosted by our dear friend and partner Kelly Minter, and included live music by Sandra McCracken. An Italian bistro theme created a beautiful room with twinkling hanging lights, blue checkered table clothes, candles and delicate floral displays. Delicious food was provided courtesy of Flavor Catering and the room was full with over 500 people plus viewers online.
We were so thankful to have our National Directors from Moldova and the Amazon join us this year along with their husbands. In both countries our teams had risked their lives this past year to reach the poor, the vulnerable and the forgotten… to bring food, medicine and hygiene supplies to those who were dying from starvation and sickness. They answered the call to go and went armed with hope and the Good News of Jesus.
Alina Magdaliuc (National Director, Moldova) shared about the incredible transformation that happens though the JMI Transitional Living Program and how God is saving and raising up the next generation in Moldova. We had the privilege of hearing Daniela’s story of life change at the event. (Watch Here)
Sarah Rodrigues (National Director, Amazon) shared about the tragedies that not only the Amazon region faced in 2021, but the tragedies that our own team faced with losing dear family and friends to a deadly variant of COVID-19. Thalita is our Logistics and Finance Manager in the Amazon and we had the honor of hearing her story from this difficult time. (Watch Here)
As we listened intently the Lord met with us in that room. He opened our hearts, as we saw and heard of His incredible faithfulness. Sandra McCracken led us in one final song and, as we stood together, we sang out in adoration to the one whose goodness overflows, all the days of our lives.
Our partners, both in person and online, had been giving generously throughout the evening and towards the end of the night we were blown away by what we saw… Not only had we reached our $260,000 goal but we had surpassed it!!! Even now, one week past the event, we continue to be in awe of what God has done!
We are blessed by the faithful partnership of people like you. Thank you to everyone who prayed, supported and gave towards our goal. It is a great privilege to be on this journey with you and we are so thankful that together we are able to continue making justice personal for the poor, the orphaned and forgotten.
