The Poor, the Vulnerable, The Forgotten
Almost 3 months ago we were faced with the need to help feed hundreds of children and families during a global pandemic. We knew we had to act fast, and somehow provide food and hygiene/medical supplies for already vulnerable children and families in Moldova and the Amazon. The JMI team decided to step out in faith and commit to feeding those most in need, trusting that God would bring in the necessary finances to fund JMI’s COVID-19 Feeding Program. It was not long after taking that step of faith that many partners joined us on this journey. Because of the generosity of so many, JMI was able to feed 450 families in Moldova and 571 families in the Amazon over the last couple of months.
At this moment Brazil has become the second most infected country in the world. In a country where there is already so much need, COVID-19 only adds to the already tragic and difficult lives of those living in the Amazon jungle, where access to food and medical care is limited. Our team is working hard to reach as many people and families as possible with food, hygiene, and medical supplies. Our network of Jungle Pastors on the ground has been essential in helping us reach communities who are most in need. Our Brazil National Director, Sarah, has formed many partnerships over the last couple of months with government organizations. Last week the JMA team represented these organizations and rallied together 60 volunteers to assemble 4900 government-funded food bags for families in the Amazon. Watch the video below.
As God provides, we will continue to feed as many families as possible over the coming months. When a family receives a food bag with medical and hygiene supplies, it is more than just meeting a physical need. These food bags represent hope and love and remind the poor and vulnerable that they are not forgotten, they are not alone, but that their Father in heaven watches over them faithfully. Join us today and help us feed those most in need in the Amazon jungle, and in Moldova.
