JMI’s annual collection of Christmas gifts for Moldova begins the Sunday after Thanksgiving and we hope you’ll join in the giving! This year we’re collecting warm gloves and socks, knit caps and scarves to distribute to children in four orphanages. You can bring your donations to the JMI booth in the WareHouse or mail them to us at 1810 Columbia Ave., Ste. 100, Franklin, TN 37064. The collection will conclude on December 19th and your gifts will be carried to Moldova by our team leaving December 29th.
This distribution of clothing ensures that every child stuck in an orphanage over the holidays receives a gift. Our sponsored children in those orphanages will be receiving a new winter coat, but we want to be sure that every child feels loved and remembered through receiving their own special gift. Any of the items listed above are welcomed for boys and girls, ages 3 to 16.
For the true orphans, Christmas is the loneliest time of the year. They watch as their friends with a parent or relative leave for the holidays and, typically, sit around in their dormitories with nothing to do other than occasionally watch t.v. When their friends return, they’re filled with stories of fun times they had, which makes the abandoned only feel worse.
When we give to orphans, the blessings flow both ways. Today I received an email from a good friend who told me his daughters had elected to forego their own Christmas gifts so that they could use that money for the Moldovan orphans’ gifts. As a parent, you can imagine the pride he feels to see the true spirit of Christ has not been lost on their young hearts!
The presence of our teams makes a huge difference and your gifts represent your presence and speak love into their lives. Thank you all for caring and sharing!
