Church Mobilization & Development - Justice & Mercy International

Church Mobilization & Development

We aim to mobilize and develop churches to fulfill the Great Commission, equipping them to reach the least-reached and shine the light of Christ in the darkest places. When the local church is healthy and mobilized, transformation takes root. JMI partners with pastors and congregations across the U.S., Amazon, Moldova, Italy, and beyond to strengthen discipleship, foster community outreach, and inspire missional living. By connecting churches globally and resourcing them locally, we help ignite a movement that carries the Gospel to places where it has never been heard … until the whole world knows.

MISSION TRIPS

One of the main ways JMI mobilizes U.S. churches is by serving the people we work with around the world. We provide customized mission trip opportunities that help participants build long-lasting, life-giving relationships.

When you travel with JMI, you are immediately immersed in serving alongside our teams on the ground. From day camps to home visits, you will serve as the hands and feet of the global church alongside the local churches we partner with to carry out our day-to-day programming.

JMI handles all the details, so you don’t have to. Our teams in the US and abroad work hard to ensure you have all the support you need. Below are more specific FAQs.

Trips in the Amazon

As you travel up and down the Amazon, Solimões, and Negro Rivers on the Splendor, our triple-decker boat, you will see long stretches of uninhabited waterway connecting remote villages, towns, and isolated homes along the banks.

Teams sleep in hammocks with mosquito netting while gently rocking to sleep as the boat travels to its next destination. Brightly colored parrots frequent the sky above the river, and you may see an occasional pack of monkeys along the shoreline. You’ll fish for piranha and swim with pink dolphins. Our boat crew has a registered jungle guide who will take you on excursions to see caiman crocodiles up close and personal, as well as a jungle walk to point out plants and trees used by the natives.

Trips in Moldova

Moldova is a beautiful country with fertile soil and can be very rural in the areas surrounding the larger cities like Chisinau and Balti. The smallest and poorest country from the former Soviet Union, Moldova is about the size of Maryland and has a weak economy. Many people move outside the country to find jobs, often leaving children behind. This poor economic system is also a contributing factor that leads to the high percentage of Moldovan children and women who fall victim to human trafficking in Europe.

The goal of JMI’s ministry in Moldova is to seek out the country’s most vulnerable children, offer them hope, and provide them with the personalized resources, opportunities, and Christ-honoring values they need to succeed in life. We do this primarily through a multi-layered child sponsorship program. JMI mission teams help us identify the most vulnerable through camp programs. These camps allow us to share the love and hope of Jesus with all the participating children while identifying those who could most benefit from sponsorship.

Amazon Indigenous Church Mission Trips

Because we believe in fostering local leadership within the communities we serve and equipping local river churches to serve on missions in remote, unreached locations, we support Indigenous churches to take mission trips to the deeper regions of the jungle. These trips allow them to spread the Gospel and extend practical assistance to those who may be otherwise inaccessible. This empowers existing local churches and pastors to foster missions at the grassroots level and empower their people to serve others in the name of Christ. JMI provides the Discovery boat for the church’s usage and funds to cover the cost of the crew and the fuel, while the river church provides for their food.
