Amazon Trip - Justice & Mercy International

Amazon Trips

A trip to the Amazon jungle is an unforgettable adventure. Most of us who have traveled to the Amazon before never imagined how much we would be changed by the experience, much less that we would find ourselves wanting to return. The Lord awaits you in the Amazon. You will recognize him in the eyes of everyone you encounter. Your trip will allow you to experience Jesus in a whole new way as you spend a week in His creation and have the opportunity to be His hands and feet as you go.

FAQ

Do JMI Brazil Trips require a COVID vaccination or COVID testing?
The COVID vaccination requirement has recently lifted for travel to Brazil, but unvaccinated travelers must present a negative laboratory COVID-19 test result performed within one day of boarding.  JMI is asking all vaccinated travelers to take a home test before traveling as a precaution. Currently, no COVID testing is required for US citizens returning to the US. Please be aware that COVID requirements can change at any moment.
Are any other vaccinations required for this trip?

At this time no other vaccinations are required for this trip. Some trip participants choose to take medication as malaria prevention and to get other recommended immunizations. We encourage you to check the CDC recommendations and talk to your doctor about what is best for you.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance?

JMI has a robust travel insurance policy that covers you in an emergency. This includes medical emergencies.

Our travel insurance does not include trip interruption or if you have to stay in the country longer due to a COVID quarantine. If you wish to purchase additional insurance we suggest TravelSafe.  Please contact them directly if you have any policy questions.

Do I need a visa to travel to Brazil?

As of January 10, 2024 a tourist visa will be required for all US citizens to travel to Brazil.  JMI will give you information on how to apply as you prepare for your trip.

What does the trip cost include?

The trip cost covers flights and all in-country expenses–everything except airport meals, travel interruptions not covered by the airline, and souvenirs.

What happens if I get sick?

We will have a nurse on the boat with us. There are a couple of air-conditioned staterooms reserved for those who get sick. If more serious medical attention is needed, we will take you via fast boat to the hospital in Manau

Is there air conditioning?

The only air conditioning is the breeze off the river and fans. Sweating is a wonderful natural detox. 🙂 Believe it or not, it does cool off a bit at night. Our boat does have a few air conditioned rooms in case someone gets sick.

Can I charge my phone?

Yes, there are outlets on the boat you can use to charge small electronics like your phone.

What to wear? - make up, hair dryers etc.

It will be hot and humid. T-shirts, modest shorts and lightweight pants are best. Us veterans usually pass on makeup and there will be no way to blow dry your hair. We’re all family here — come as you are!

What is the group size?

The size of the group may vary. We can have trips ranging from 20 to 35.

What ages does this trip include?

We ask all participants to be at least 12 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or person acting as their parent with them.
