Mission Trip to New Orleans: April 7-11 - Justice & Mercy International

Mission Trip to New Orleans: April 7-11

If you’ve been wanting to go on a mission trip but don’t feel ready to take the giant international step, consider joining us for our Mission to New Orleans over spring break this year!

Our team will leave from Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee and travel by vans to The Big Easy. We’ll be staying in Oak Park Baptist Church, which has retrofitted a wing of their facility for the use of post-Katrina teams.

Our mission in New Orleans will be 3-fold:

  • Assist Harbor Community Church with a block party to outreach their community. We want to man all their booth, food and children’s game areas so that their members can be free to meet their neighbors and introduce their church. We’ll also spend a day doing landscaping work around the church prior to the big party.
  • Help out one morning at a homeless shelter known as the NOLA mission. Our assignments may include cooking, cleaning, sorting clothes and possibly leading out in a devotional time. Whatever they need done, we’re there to do!
  • Interact with seafarers accessing services through the Maritime Center run by Global Maritime Ministries. Most of these men are from other countries, have been at sea for up to 6 weeks (and possibly living on their ships for much longer) and have a precious few hours to contact their families via the phones and computers at the Center. We’ll do things for them like baking cookies, filling “blessing bags” with hygiene supplies, and talking to and playing games with the seafarers until they have to return to their ships.

The cost of this 5-day trip is only $249, which covers all expenses except travel meals. It’s a trip that may appeal to families as well, so check with Steve Davis or Jason Hale to discuss that possibility.

A 30 minute interest meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Conference Room of Rolling Hills. You can fill out this form to let us know you’re interested in the trip. Commitment to the trip should be registered by March 7 when your $100 nonrefundable deposit is due. The balance of the trip is due by March 21.

If you’d like to join this mission team but live outside the Nashville area, please contact Steve Davis (steve@justiceandmercy.org) or Jason Hale (Jason@rollinghillscommunity.org) to gather more information and discuss the logistics of hooking up with our team….we’d love to have you!
