Project Chosen Ones
Our World has an Orphan problem. UNICEF estimates that there are 210 million orphans in the world today. Only God knows the number of abused, abandoned and neglected children.
These are the dispossessed and discarded of the earth. Through no fault of their own they learn what it means to suffer physically, emotionally and spiritually and, in millions of cases, will die without the knowledge of what it means to be loved and claimed by someone.
Project Chosen Ones is Justice and Mercy International’s response to the cries of the orphans and our own Orphan Initiative. It is our effort to join in God’s own expressed initiative to “defend the cause of the fatherless.” Our job is to communicate the truth that every child is of infinite worth and serve as a conduit for creating healthy, healing relationships between deserving children and adults who have room in their hearts and homes for another.
Project Chosen Ones is a program designed to:
- create awareness, encouragement and provide technical assistance to families considering adoption or are in the adoption process
- encourage Americans to sponsor orphans and social orphans from Moldova and Haiti where JMI has an active presence and a vehicle for connecting with them through our website – www.justiceandmercy.org/advocate
Adoption awareness is created through periodic informational meetings in which adoptive families and professionals in the field are invited to share their knowledge and experience with individuals or couples considering the option. These meetings serve as forums to walk through the adoptive process from A to Z.
Adoption awareness presentations include the very personal elements of navigating the emotional waters of THE DECISION; choosing a reputable adoption agency; financial considerations and planning; determining a future child based on his or her country of origin, ethnicity, gender and special needs, if any; preparation for unanticipated problems and changes; mastering the necessary paperwork and creating your portfolio; home studies; open or closed adoption; international travel and other typical issues encountered.
Sponsorships through JMI are another meaningful way to reach out to an orphan and change their destinies. JMI’s sponsorships are designed to allow you the opportunity to stay connected to a deserving child even as the needs and stages of their lives change.
